It’s no April fool! The News Round-Up really is back with news from Greg Barker on Twitter, the latest on the Domestic RHI and solar PV.

Domestic RHI –will arrive by Easter – @GregBarkerMP (18/03/14)

Earlier this month Greg Barker, Minister for Energy and Climate Change, took to Twitter to announce that the long awaited Domestic RHI scheme will be launched by Easter.

No exact dates have been published but the good news is that, following 3 years of delays, it’s almost live. Roll on Easter!

2014 Set to be a breakthrough year for renewable home heating – Solar Power Portal (24/03/14)

The Renewable Energy Association thinks the introduction of the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive could make 2014 a breakthrough year for renewable heating.

Mike Landy of the Renewable Energy Association commented “The domestic RHI is set to be one of the highlights of the Government’s green agenda for 2014. It will mean that renewable home heating is not just environmentally sensible but also financially attractive for the majority of homes off the gas grid.”

Global Installed Solar Capacity on the Up – Forbes (20/03/14)

2013 saw the global installed solar capacity increase by 25%. Europe, previously the leader, has now taken a back seat in installations with only 10,000MW 2013 compared to 17,500MW in 2012. Asia and Japan are now top runners. USA is doing well with capacity up 41% from 2012.

It seems the upward growth curve has been continuous with a doubling every two years from 2004.
